Well, it's like... this one guy did an experiment where he put a vial in a closed box with some self-acting magic. If the contents of the vial did anything, like had an air bubble move inside, the magic would zap it. And then the guy closed the box and didn't look at it for a while, so in a way it's kind of like the vial is intact and destroyed. There's no way to know until you open up the box and see.
