awesmazings | 001 | Video/Action for New Bark

[When the feed begins, anyone tuning in to the Network is going to be graced with a nose curiously sniffing at the 'Gear, which nearly drowns out the barely detectable sound of someone cheerily humming to the ever present background music that happens to accompany New Bark Town and just about everywhere besides. The humming stops before the creature behind said nose is gently pulled away, revealing the cheery face of a boy who couldn't be much older than 15. He sits with the 'Gear held against his knees, a bright, gap-toothed grin on his face as he shifts into a more comfortable position with his back to a tree.

Sitting in his lap is a rather fluffy Electrike who seems overly curious with just about everything the boy is doing. So much so, in fact, that he has to put a hand on the Pokémon's head to get him to sit still long enough so he can talk.]

Beezy! Heloise! Are you guys around? Can you hear me-?

[The Electrike lets out a low, playful growl and bumps his head against the bottom of the boy's chin, causing him to laugh and trial off before he can continue.]

Heheh, looks like I made a new friend! Gonna hafta' come up with a nickname for you, boy.

[He seems pleased by that, finally settling down enough so the boy can turn his full attention to the 'Gear in his hands.]

Anyways, my name's Jimmy, Jimmy Two-Shoes! I uh....wow, I've never seen a place as bright and nice as this! And the sky is blue, that's awesmazing!

[Clearly this is a kid who hasn't experienced Pokémon in any way, shape, or form....but one wonders as to why the sky should strike him as unusual.

Also yes that is a word that he may or may not have come up with because why not.]

But....could anybody out there tell me where I am, exactly? Or how I got here from Miseryville? I know the map says "New Bark Town", but...I've never heard of a place like that. ..Maybe one of Heloise's inventions sent me here and I just forgot or something...

[He shakes his head a little, laughing to himself. Jimmy might not exactly understand what's going on, but he doesn't seem to be chomping at the bit to go home or anything. He's used to strange and different creatures, so the idea of Pokémon is just something new for him to experience.

Jimmy trails off again after that, distracted by just about everything from the strangely colored sky, to the people (and someone claiming to be his...mom. Not sure what that was about, but she was nice enough. ...Not that he's ever had one.), to the Pokémon themselves. He eventually ends the feed there, the picture of an excited child with lots of questions waiting to be answered.]

Nice to meet you too, Aradia! Umm...well there's not much else I can think of, other than that I'm...not exactly sure where I should go next.

It's an easy way to grow your roster a little! As to where to go, it depends on what you want to do. It's a tad more finanically relevant to stick to Johto and head onwards to Violet, but if you'd prefer to get the Kanto badges first, you can take the ferry to Pallet. I did Johto first myself, but right now I'm in Kanto with a friend - Roxy - as we snag the Kanto badges. Though we'll head back next month.

[Aw man, well that's even better!]

Yeah, Joker told me about the badges! I'm not really sure where I wanna start though, to be perfectly honest.

In that case, maybe you should see who else is new! Sometimes that's the best way to put together a travel party. Or look around for people you get on with, see where they are, and head that way.

[ It worked for her, although people also offered to come and pick her up, because...castmates. ]

[Ahh castmates. Still, Jimmy's got a pretty good knack at making friends. Gathering a traveling party shouldn't be too hard, maybe.]

That's a good idea! I'd rather travel with others if I could, I think. But if I'm on my own for a little while that's fine too.

[Electrike gives a bit of a playful growl, bumping his head against Jimmy's hand. You won't be totally alone, kid.]

Well, you're not completely alone. You have your partners! But yep, that's what I'd do.

[ And...had done. Though admittedly she was bopping around alone until Roxy's recent re-arrival. ]

If worse comes to worse, you're always welcome to head towards Pewter - or Cerulean, I think we're heading out there next.

[ ...This is not the most generous offer she's ever made to a newbie, surprisingly. Aradia's generally happy to help when and where she can. ]

Ok, gotcha! I looked at the map, aaand..

[He pauses, glancing over his shoulder at the Route in the distance.]

I think I'm gonna try to go to Cherrygrove first. That's the town after New Bark, yeah?

[He appreciates it, really. After what happened with Saionji, it's clear that Jimmy's not the kind of person who really should be traveling by himself, lest he unintentionally gets into trouble.]

Yep, the one directly after it! From there, the one after that is Violet - that's where you can snag the first badge, although you might have to train a little bit to be able to get to it. It's important to get the badges that let you use fly and other moves outside of battle, if you aren't a breeder.

[ ...She's not sure what he is specifically. :|a ]

Which are you, by the way? Trainer, breeder...?

I'm a Trainer! Though being a Breeder would probably be cool too..

I haven't actually... done any training yet, but Joker did show me a little of how battling is done. How strong do you think I have to be before I can get my first badge?

[He'll definitely need more than one Pokémon that's for sure.]

The first gym leader has Pokemon in the thirties...and it's a flying type gym. So, as soon as you train Electrike up to a level that's appropriate, he should actually be able to breeze through it without any problems.

[Oh bless, sounds like he managed to luck out in the type lottery.]

Ok! I guess I got some work to do....since Electrike is only level 5, I think.

[ HE DID INDEED. Congrats, Jimmy Two-Shoes. ]

Yes, but it is fairly easy to level! There are a lot of random trainers on the routes who will challenge you to battles, for example...so don't worry about it too much. And after the first badge, the rest are cake - they just fall into place, you know?

[A WINNER IT IS HIM.]

Oh, awesome! Yeah, I'm not too worried about it, I just need to try not to get lost on these Routes.
