001 | Video/Action for New Bark

[When the feed begins, anyone tuning in to the Network is going to be graced with a nose curiously sniffing at the 'Gear, which nearly drowns out the barely detectable sound of someone cheerily humming to the ever present background music that happens to accompany New Bark Town and just about everywhere besides. The humming stops before the creature behind said nose is gently pulled away, revealing the cheery face of a boy who couldn't be much older than 15. He sits with the 'Gear held against his knees, a bright, gap-toothed grin on his face as he shifts into a more comfortable position with his back to a tree.

Sitting in his lap is a rather fluffy Electrike who seems overly curious with just about everything the boy is doing. So much so, in fact, that he has to put a hand on the Pokémon's head to get him to sit still long enough so he can talk.]

Beezy! Heloise! Are you guys around? Can you hear me-?

[The Electrike lets out a low, playful growl and bumps his head against the bottom of the boy's chin, causing him to laugh and trial off before he can continue.]

Heheh, looks like I made a new friend! Gonna hafta' come up with a nickname for you, boy.

[He seems pleased by that, finally settling down enough so the boy can turn his full attention to the 'Gear in his hands.]

Anyways, my name's Jimmy, Jimmy Two-Shoes! I uh....wow, I've never seen a place as bright and nice as this! And the sky is blue, that's awesmazing!

[Clearly this is a kid who hasn't experienced Pokémon in any way, shape, or form....but one wonders as to why the sky should strike him as unusual.

Also yes that is a word that he may or may not have come up with because why not.]

But....could anybody out there tell me where I am, exactly? Or how I got here from Miseryville? I know the map says "New Bark Town", but...I've never heard of a place like that. ..Maybe one of Heloise's inventions sent me here and I just forgot or something...

[He shakes his head a little, laughing to himself. Jimmy might not exactly understand what's going on, but he doesn't seem to be chomping at the bit to go home or anything. He's used to strange and different creatures, so the idea of Pokémon is just something new for him to experience.

Jimmy trails off again after that, distracted by just about everything from the strangely colored sky, to the people (and someone claiming to be his...mom. Not sure what that was about, but she was nice enough. ...Not that he's ever had one.), to the Pokémon themselves. He eventually ends the feed there, the picture of an excited child with lots of questions waiting to be answered.]

Yep. I'm one of the few people left who've been stuck here from the start.

[Well, the start for all the outsiders, anyway. Obviously the world isn't that young.]

Let's just say I've seen some pretty weird stuff in my time.

Enough that I once wrote a guide, even if it's more than a year out of date.

[Heh. This isn't him gloating, though-- it's just something he did in his boredom, really.]

So, if you had any questions, I could probably fill you in. I can even tone down the cynicism for a change.

[After all, he's fully aware that he's kind of bitter in some regards.]

No need to thank me.

[He shrugs. It's not like it's a huge ordeal, and besides, the kid's new.]

So, anything you're dying to know? Might be best to start with that so I don't talk your ear off.

Falkner? Man, that's... okay, if you're gonna take him on, you'll want to get your team to at least level thirty. If you can get something with ice, rock, or electric moves? Even better. Type advantages make battles a million times easier.

[Careful, Jimmy. Riku's starting to slip into his secret Pokénerd mode.]

Well, his species name is a pun on electric, so I'd say that's a given.

[He snickers. Then again, it never hurts to ask.]

Guess that saves you the trouble of catching a Shinx or Mareep. Still, I'd grab a few backup Pokémon just to be safe. Sometimes type advantages alone can't carry you in a battle.

[Hmm, give him a second while he mulls this over. It's been ages since he actually hit that route, after all...

Well, right off the top of his head...]

The most common Pokémon you'll bump into are Pidgeys, Rattatas, Sentrets, maybe a couple Hoothoots at night. Nothing too exciting, but you might have better luck if you have your Pokémon ram into the trees. Maybe you'll bump into something cool, like a Heracross.

Think a stag beetle that walks around on two legs and punches things. They're part bug, part fighting type, and from what I can tell, they're huge powerhouses.

[If he didn't have so many 'mons already, he'd consider training one himself, but alas. He's already got more than fifty.]
