003 | Video/Action for Goldenrod

[Now that prom has mostly wound down, Jimmy has found himself back with the rest of Joker's circus group, waiting for the next location they were to head off to. He had spent the better part of the day just exploring the massive town, along with stopping in the department store to have a look around for a bit. On the video that appears he can be seen lounging on a couch in the Pokémon Center, his Furret lying with him with her long body stretched out behind him and curled around like a giant furry pillow.]

Mornin'! So, did everyone have a good time at prom this past weekend? I know I sure did!

[Gracious, one would wonder if this kid ever runs out of energy. Even now after all that excitement he seems to have steam to spare, and then some.]

I had a really great time. And things went pretty well, yeah? Hopefully we'll have another one, next year. [GEE, SOMEONE MISSED POOLGATE. Or is just electing to not make mention of it for so many reasons.]

Thanks to all you guys who battled with me, by the way! We got a lot of experience, and thanks to that-

-Leader evolved! So I think we'll be ready to finally challenge Falkner, once we swing back 'round Violet City.

Oh, also- has anyone been able to train their...well, guess I can't call them Bloobers anymore...Goomies more, yet? I'm kinda excited to figure out what other moves they can learn and stuff.

[He reaches back to rub behind Cherry's ears before shutting off the feed. If anyone wants to find him he probably won't be going anywhere any time soon, since he's actually waiting for Lucky to return from his trip to the Center to recover from yet more battling because of course he is. Jimmy's Larvesta and Eevee are on the floor, playing around their trainer's feet and legs, occassionally using Leader as an eternally patient jungle gym.]

Yeah, now that we know a bit more 'bout 'em, suppose I should get ta carryin' Guls around. Sure would make Rogue happy, he loves her that much.

[Jimmy understands Very Important Ringleader things, so he won't harsh you for not being here yourself. As long as he's got someone to talk to it really doesn't matter if you're here or not, honestly.]

Aw, really? My team seems to like Guava too....well, all 'cept for Lucky. She likes him, but he doesn't like her. ...not much at all, actually...

But I think she'll grow on him after a while.

[...Probably literally, with how easily her slime gets all over everything.]

Hope Guava has better luck with 'im than Guls has been havin' with Lightnin'. Cats don't much care for those wet sorta things...

So, your Lucky still smartin' from all the battlin'?

Oooh yeah....he wore himself out at prom, and yet he still wants to throw himself into every battle we come across... I was hoping those battles at prom would've taught him a lesson, but he seems to just want to get stronger even faster now..

That ain't surprisin'. Once some a them realize they got a ways ta go, they make it a goal a theirs. Lightnin' was a bit the same.

Has he been listenin' ta ya better?

A little, I think! He hasn't been trying to cause any more fights with Inferno lately, at least.

[Since the Buizel had been making it a game to threaten the poor little fire type on a daily basis. Such a bully that he is.]

I dunno, I keep hoping he'll get better after a while...I'm just gonna keep working with him and see how it goes.

[Maybe Jimmy just needs a third Pokemon to round out the trio of Pokemon-that-won't-take-Lucky's-crap that currently includes Cherry and Leader.]

Ya gotta just hammer away at types like that, sometimes. Might do ya good ta have a strong willed sort that's got a type advantage over him. Just in case an' all that.

Type advantage, huh?....well that's gotta be Leader, that's for sure. Plus he's almost half the level Lucky is, so maybe I should get them to battle together more often.

There ya go!

S'what I do with Jia. Usually when he works with the rest, he can keep in time, but it always helps ta have Invidia in the wings just in case. Doesn't need ta be anythin' serious if they won't listen ta a good word or two, just enough ta keep 'im on track.

Yeah! I'll do that next time Lucky wants to hop into another battle, or try to attack some stray Pokemon on the routes.

[Because Lord knows when isn't he trying to do that.]

But...I think he's really just bummed out because he hasn't evolved yet, even though he should be able to by now.

Yeah? Sure he ain't one a those types who needs somethin' special in order ta evolve?

[Joker hasn't had any of those kind of Pokemon yet, but he's heard about them.]

No, I don't think so! I've read as much as I can about Buizels on my Pokedex, and they're supposed to evolve around level 26...but Lucky's level 38.

[And it doesn't help that Leader evolved at the prom and he didn't.]

Huh... Best I can think of is that he ate himself an Everstone by accident. Probably ain't likely, so best ta ask a Nurse if there's anythin' that might be ailin' him.

[....you know, considering.....naaah, he wouldn't.]

Huh....I guess I will. He's recovering now, so I'll ask before I get him back.

[What sick irony that would be.]

Well, you'll let me know if anythin' comes up. Yer one a the circus now, and how all of yer Pokemon and yerself are doin' is my responsibility.

Don't worry, I will! I think everything will be ok....maybe he's just not ready to evolve for some reason. ...It doesn't have to happen right away, does it?

Not if ya don't want it ta.

I don't mind when he evolves, honestly...I just want to make sure it's right for him, that's all.

Seems like it's usually just a form a growin' up for most a them, although I know some don't much care for it. [He chuckles.] That's how my Angel is like.

Awww...yeah, most of my team doesn't seem to mind evolving so much. They all like it, of course. Like, when Cherry evolved, it was like nothing changed really!

[Other than her turning into a furry pool noodle.]

But Lucky just really wants to get big and strong as soon as possible.

Tell 'im he can still be strong and size don't mean a thing if ya think it'll help 'im calm down a bit until the nurse can figure out what's wrong with 'im. S'all I can think of.

Eheh, well it's worth a try I guess....I'll talk to him when the rest aren't around. He might listen to me more, then.

He's a prideful little thing, picked up on that from the start. Well, I'm always about if ya need anythin'. I've worked with stubborn types before.

[Lucky never took after Jimmy, that's for sure.]

Training Bavarois goes much faster now that I can ask him to use more than Tackle and Return. It makes choosing new TMs for him easier, too. All that's missing now is a way to understand his more... unique thoughts.

Heheh, I know, right? I'm gonna try to let Guava train a little more now that I actually...know where to start. Though I didn't think they'd be dragon types, did you?

I have to admit I expected them to be at least partially Water-types. Considering their shape, a combination with the Bug type seemed most likely. I've seen many species of dragons throughout my life, but none that resemble slugs so much.

Yeah, you think about dragons and you think about big, scaly, flying monsters! Though slug dragons are pretty cool too, I think!

It's certainly an excellent way to confuse their opponents, I'll give them that. Though I find that most are already confused by their mere existence.

Seems that way! But we did learn a whole bunch of new stuff about them after prom, so maybe we'll learn more after we start training them!

Indeed, especially now that we know they'll someday evolve. Perhaps that particular change will be as impressive as Magikarp's transformation into Gyarados?

Oh man, I hope so! Can't you just imagine a huge, slimy dragon?

[Because he certainly can, and it sounds so rad.]

I certainly can. Just as I can imagine the amount of Wonder Clean it would take to keep the house spotless around it.

[How he rues his imagination right now.]

Yeah, they do kinda make a mess, don't they? ...But that's just how they are, I guess! I still think they're super cool anyway.

They have their charms. Especially when they confuse Grimers and scare them away from my pond.

Oh yeah? I guess they can be kinda scary if you don't know what they are.

[Particularly to other Pokemon.]

I think it is both because they were unknown and because they were so many, at least at first. Though that thankfully did not last too long.

I wasn't here yet when they first showed up....were there a whole ton of them?

Hundreds upon hundreds. You could hardly take a step outside without facing a sad-eyed dehydrated slug, begging you for water.

Oh gosh....that's awful! What happened, exactly?

Nothing happened, truly. They merely chose very dry days to visit us, instead of waiting for weather they find more pleasant. But the Bronzongs helped with that.

Riiight, gotcha....and then I guess they decided to stay with a few trainers after that, meaning there have been Goomies around ever since. Yeah?

Exactly. Since they were a brand new species no one in Johto or Kanto had ever seen before, many were caught by curious trainers. It's happened before, the last time new species appeared.

I can get why! What was the last new species?

Many appeared at the same time in the form of eggs left in our bags, but there was also a swarm of Woobats. And Audinos. And... Well, there was a large swarm of multiple species, some unknown to us.

Oh, that's cool! Sounds like a thing that just kinda happens when this world wants it to.... I hope I get to see something like that happen, too!

Perhaps you will! It's happened a few times during my years here, after all.
