006 | Video/Action for Goldenrod

[It's around noon and it's slightly cloudy out, but regardless Jimmy can be seen standing just outside of a circus tent standing prominently in the background. In his hand not holding the Gear are a two juggling pins, and standing in front of him are a Houndour and a Herdier, watching him expectantly.]

We've been practicing some stuff for the next act all morning, and I thought it'd be nice to take a break and see what everyone's up to today! I haven't felt anymore earthquakes, so that's good...so hopefully they're all gone, maybe?

[He shrugs with a half smile, tossing one of the pins. The Houndoom jumps quickly, catching it in midair.]

But I actually do got a question! Do any of you guys know any real spooky, scary stories? Or maybe scary stuff that happened to you, but turned out okay in the end?

[Not that he's saying people are obligated to share, but he's really got to learn some tricks to being scary in the next few days...cause gracious he's not.]

I've got some! I've met a ghost before! He was pretty cool though actually, once we got to know him. Kinda weird...but still pretty cool.

[Aand there goes the other pin, which the Herdier catches as well with a little difficulty, wobbling into the Houndoom's leg.]

[Anyone around the center of Goldenrod today might spot Jimmy practicing with his Pokemon not far from the circus tent. As opposed to earlier, he has his Furret and his Breloom out, speaking to them eagerly and gesturing with his hands as he does so.

Choosing to stay and watch a while will reveal some rather...interesting balancing acts that Jimmy is trying to pull off with the two, but staying long enough might just earn a sight that looks something like this, at least until the Furret sneezes and the entire tower comes toppling to the grass in a heap.]

[Scary stories, huh? Envy's got one of those.]

I've got one that happened to me just this summer. Something that happened in the woods while I was traveling just outside of the National Park. Pretty close to here.

[This is accompanied by an appropriately dramatic look because theatrics are Envy's favorite thing.]

[ Valmont isn't normally inclined to answer random questions broadcast through his phone by excitable boys. On the other hand, though, he is always inclined to bellyache about his hardships in life. After a brief tussle of instincts, the latter wins out. ]

Well. I wouldn't exactly say it turned out well at all, apart from the fact that it ended, but until very recently I was possessed by a demon. Is that scary enough for you?

[Normally, Veronica wasn't very much the kind of person to talk about her experiences and what's happened in her home world.

....But she was in a cave still, so stories might be nice.]

I have a few stories but... you might not like them.

Scary stories?

[Step aside, everyone, the master of spoop is in the house.]

What kind of scary are you looking for here? Like, monsters in the woods, demonic possession, legions of zombies rising from their graves, the summoning of an evil elder god...? I've got a whole library of 'em!

I know some ghost stories. Not real ones, ones from the radio.

[Lust is pretty sure her real life experiences go beyond 'spooky story' material.]

Yo— I heard some real spooky shit once back at one of those pokécenters.

Well gosh, sure it is! I mean, at least you're not possessed anymore, right?

So what happened?

Well...I did say I wanted to hear some scary stories...are your stories really scary, Veronica?

Oh wow, I dunno where to start! Uhh....which one of those is your favorite?

Oh, well that's okay! I'd still like to hear 'em anyways!

Wow, here? What happened?

Ah, you might want to be careful what you ask for, mon petit! You may end up with things you don't particularly want to hear.

[...Tsukiyama, are you trying to schmuckbait the poor guy...]

But I want to hear scary stuff! I can take it, honest!

[Jimmy oh my God don't.

Like he is seriously putting too much faith in the masses to refrain from telling him things that may or may not scar him for life, don't do it.]

Why don't we start with the situation where I'm from, then? My city has been plagued with a longrunning series of horrific and so far completely unexplained deaths. The bodies are always horribly disfigured - assuming there are bodies to be found at all, that is.

It looks like either a very determined cult, or something completely inhuman - no one's really lived through an attack and been in any state to talk about it later, you see.

[...well. Karube-san and Hori-san were both kind of a thing, but they don't really count for differing reasons...]

[....Jimmy what have you done.

You know he's not sure what's scarier, actually- the thing itself, or the fact that you're saying it so matter-of-factly, like you're talking about the weather or something.]

H-....holy cow....that's awful...

And nobody's...been able to catch whoever's doing this?

Aight, so there was this dude, yeah? Motherfucker was home alone an' shit— then it started rainin' some heavy duty skywater up on his hive. It was dark, and he couldn't see much of what was in the haps outside, just that it was real fuckin' windy. And wet.

Now this motherfucker was pretty damn chill, you dig? He wasn't worryin' none— 'least until the lights were all doop and shut off all at the same motherfuckin' time. And then he screamed and—

[ shit— wait that came after. ]

— Shit. My bad, bro, back it up some. Uhhh . . .

[ where was he— oh! ]

— So they all shut off at the same motherfuckin' time, and our main bro starts gettin' kinda sweaty. "S'chill" he says, but we all know he ain't that chill no more. Poor motherfucker is shakin' in his horns. There's a lot of motherfuckin' noise goin' on around his block, but he ain't so sure if it's outside or there with his spooked self, y'know? He even thinks he hears laughing and shit.

[ he doesn't know why they'd by laughing— maybe it was a joke! ]

But the lights zip right the fuck on again, and he's all like "Ok now we be chill", since the lights ain't all dark no more— but he's got a bad feel, like something's gonna happen, somethin' real motherfuckin' helly. So, he goes to his com-poo-ter thang and starts connectin' t'tell all his bros, since he don't got one of those cell devices. He's waitin' a real long time— but he looks down for some reason and— AHHH—!

[ he imitates the man screaming!! ]

— There was no internet, man!!!

[ DUN DUN DUN!!!! ]

Alright, do you want the one about the ghostly train, or the one about the haunted lake?

Spooky stories, huh?

[He's seen some shit in his day. What he's thinking of now is still a bit too fresh in his mind, but he doesn't know this kid from Adam, so really, what could it hurt?]

Okay, so where I'm from there was this complete asshole -who was NOT me- who... well, he'd done some pretty awful stuff, right? But especially to this little girl. He took away someone real close to her, and it messed her up really bad on the inside.

[He's beginning to think that this might not be the best idea he's had, but he can't exactly quit now.]

Anyway, this girl got so sad it called up this ancient... THING called the D-Reaper.

[He shudders a bit thinking about it.]

It just kind of... started destroying everything. Like it would've just deleted the entire world if it could have, right? And the guy tried saving the little girl, cause he felt bad about what he'd done, but he just wasn't strong enough...

[And now he's made himself sad. Yeah, this was basically the worst idea he's had since arriving in Johto.]

Not the last time I checked, no. Thank goodness for small favors.

[ Oh boy. Story time. ]

I should preface this by saying that I know this particular demon. That he had, indeed, been a thorn in my side for several months prior, and that I thought I had been well rid of him.

[ He laughs bitterly. ] That was too good to be true, I suppose. Because you see, a few days later I was minding my own business [ well, sort of ] when I felt this - well, a sort of jolt, I suppose you'd call it, inside my head. As though something had slammed into the back of my brain. This was, of course, the demon announcing his return in the most unpleasant way possible.

After that I believe I was out of commission for a bit while the demon decided it was a jolly good idea to walk around in my body. But when I found out - do you know what it's like to look in the mirror and see a great bloody dragon face staring back at you? Because if not, I suggest you keep it that way.

And so for the next several months... well, I'm not sure you want to hear about the horrors he put me through.

[ It wasn't that bad, Valmont. Stop being a drama queen. ]

Real spooky stories? What's gotten you interested in that?

[Because he's so great at thinking ahead, Kaine responded to this before realizing that not a single story he could tell is actually something he should share with a kid. Or a teenager. Or anyone. Ever. So there's just an awkward silence before he realizes he should probably say something.]

You actually met a ghost? Was it like the whole bedsheet thing, or did it look like a person?

[There, that's something that isn't awkwardly staring at the camera.]

Uuumm...

[Hang on, Lust, give Jimmy a second to do a quick bought of eenie-meenie-miney-mo in his head.]

Okay, tell me the one about the haunted lake!

[Jimmy listens intently, but as the story goes on, his curious smile switches into something a bit more...sad.]

Gosh....that's a lot sadder than it is scary...I mean it's kindof both, what with that D-Reaper guy destroying the world and all, or trying to.

...

But....the little girl is okay, right?

[LIKE, THIS DOES HAVE A HAPPY ENDING, RIGHT...]

Woooah, so you couldn't do anything? That's so freaky!

[The weird thing is that Jimmy's best friend is a demon, though not necessarily a dragon, so this isn't quite as alarming as it should be. ...That, and the demons he knows actually don't seem to have the power to possess people. Or at least...the one he knows the best is simply too lazy to.]

So how'd you actually get him out of you?
