[ He arrives a good five minutes or so later. Thankfully with his coat and hat in tow so the rain really isn't a problem. There's an appreciative whistle though when he finally slips into the tent. His Cherrim, Belle, is more than happy to join the others in the Sunny Day rotation though which she does as Ron pulls up a hair to hang his coat and jacket on before rolling up his sleeves. ]
All things considered, this isn't so bad! Good work finding us a spot.
[Jimmy flashes Ron a smile as he walks in, and just about that time is when his Breloom finally settles into the spot that Jimmy was trying to instruct him to.]
Hey, no problem! We should have plenty of room here.
It looks rather ace, if you ask me! Not bad given the circumstances. Now then. since "Mum" seems to have filched my knife and I can't find anything that'll do just as well... I've been getting by with these.
[ And with that, he's reaching for a small case Grim has just brought in from one of the other tents. Inside are a set of flat blades which seem to be more of naked knives with a bit of cloth near the edge to serve as a handle. ]
S'not as flashy as actual knives but these work a treat. Had to take the handles off because they were messing up my aim.
[ They're fanned out like a hand of cards as he speaks before he offers one to Jimmy, "handle" pointed out and sharp side in. ]
Try to get a feel for the weight. Best you get used to them first before you try tossing them about.
[Jimmy nods, carefully reaching for one of the offered knives. He holds it in his right hand for a moment before passing it to the other, his head tilting slightly as he watches the light glint off the surface of the blade.]
Mm...does it really matter which hand you use? Cause...well, I can use both hands.
[He chuckles as he passes it back to his right, shifting his grip along the cloth handle.]
[ Oh hey, that's bound to come in handy. But he seems to be fairly decent at it.
One particular knife is selected from the fan before the rest are stacked. This one, Ron's started tossing around and flipping in his hand just for practice. ]
Course not. Though I'd say to pick the hand you use for writing. Better control, methinks.
[ And with that, the knife is tossed over his shoulder without breaking from the motions of being toyed around and lands square in the middle of the target. ]
If you're ready to give it a go, pick out one of the shivs and stand a good couple of feet in front of the target. We'll start close then work our way back.
[Jimmy snaps his head around when the knife is tossed to watch it fly, an astonished gasp leaving him once the knife hits the target dead center.]
Woooah...boy, am I ever!
[Jimmy looks back down at his own knife before deciding on using his right hand. He tends to swap hands for a lot of things he does, but that one seems the safest. Then, he takes up position near the target as instructed, waving his left hand to signal for his Breloom to move out of the way.
Once he's lumbered a safe distance behind where Jimmy is standing, he holds up the knife with his lips pursed in concentration.
A second later he tosses it- a bit too hard, sending the knife jutting downwards as it clips the edge of the target and spins into the dirt.]
Not bad for a start! I've seen some who can't even get it two steps from where they stand.
[ And at that, Grim is going to float over and pick the knife up from the ground, offering it back to Ronald as he passes Jimmy another. This time though, he positions the sharp end between two of the other's fingers. ]
Try it again, mate. Prolly a bit less oomph this time and a bit to the side. Swing your arm back and don't let go 'til it's forward.
[He takes the knife carefully, paying attention to the way Ron positions it before turning his attention back to the target.
A second later he sends the next one flying without throwing it with the enthusiasm of a baseball pitcher, resulting in the knife embedding itself into the foam close to the edge.]
That'd be brilliant! M'sure my team wouldn't mind sharing the stage with your lot for a joint act sometime. Course, Ginny might complain a bit but she'll get used to it.
[ There's an eager nod from Grim as he floats around his trainer. Getting another into the act might be a great idea! His diva of an emolga will just have to deal. ]
Swot it up while I'm on the road and we'll see how good you are by the next show, yeah?
Yeah! Oh man, I can't wait! You'll see, I'll be hitting the bull's eye every time in no time!
[Jimmy doesn't see his Breloom exchange a nervous glance with his Manectric, to which the electric type just shakes his head a little. Don't worry, he'll make sure their trainer doesn't maim himself somehow while practicing.]
[The Breloom, Spore, looks over with a small smile of gratitude. Maybe it won't be...so bad...]
Will do! Hopefully it'll stop rainin' soon so we can move outside to practice...would prolly be better, just so I don't accidentally tear a hole in the tent or something.
And nothing beats the outdoors! Though... I've got a few wooden stakes you could use to practice your aim then work on using the metal ones when you're ready.
[ Now where he placed them though is another story entirely. ]
Sorry this took so long!
All things considered, this isn't so bad! Good work finding us a spot.
no worries!

[ Grim's going to float over to the target and pluck the knife from it, giving Jimmy a proper applause before handing the knife back to his trainer. ]
I'd say with a bit more practice, you'll prolly be brilliant at it. Just have to fix your aim a bit and you'll be ace.

[Oh god if he wasn't stupidly excited about this before, he sure is now.]
I'll keep practicing as much as I can! Maybe if I can get good enough, we could do an act together!

[ While Grim can manage a bit more confidence in his trainer, he can't help but give Jimmy's Breloom a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. ]
Just have a care for your own fingers and make sure everyone stays clear of your practice runs while you're still trying to get a hang of aiming.
