[It's a bright, sunny day on the road to Viridian City. It's also pretty devoid of trainers at the moment, save for Jimmy and Joker as they make their way to town. This is pretty inconvenient, given the fact that Jimmy's feeling very cheerful at the moment, but it isn't just your average, everyday Jimmy brand cheerfulness.

Oh no. He's singing. He is singing at the top of his lungs as he walks with his Gear in hand, pointed up at himself.

There is a Chatot perched on Jimmy's shoulder, and every time the song switches into the parts requiring strictly whistling, he points the Gear over at him and lets him take over. Not because he doesn't want to, of course, but because he literally can't whistle. Having a permanent gap in your teeth does that to you, unfortunately. But by god is he singing the singing parts.]

Come ooon and give a whistle! Let me hear you whistle! I know you can whistle! Everybody whistle!~

[And right on cue, Paco the Chatot extends his wings out to the side and whistles his little heart out for his trainer.]

[Even if people are a little more...energetic than usual, Jimmy's just taking that as a good thing.]

This is by far one of the weirdest youkai possessions he's ever seen. Komasan can only be thankful he hasn't been caught up in it this time around. ...Yet.]

Monge... A whole town, zura... [He of course only assumes it's the whole town.] W-Well, it doesn't look like it's making you sick... I guess it isn't so bad, zura.

[A soft, melancholy whistle trails over the gear. It sounds like someone's whistling some sort of old folk lament or such.

Ilya has her own ideas of what sort of music's appropriate right now, it seems.]

[Dave listens to Jimmy for a little while, nodding his head slightly. After a brief "yeah, all right," he does not, in fact, give him a whistle.

He starts beat-boxing along instead.

You know, not because he's affected or anything, but because it just seems like the right thing to do. The Gallade in the background looks as mortified as if his own parental figure started to breakdance in the street.]

[Jimmy catches on to the beat boxing right away, but he doesn't tell Paco to stop whistling. Not that he would have had to, anyway. The little Chatot continues to sing his heart out without ceasing as Jimmy hums along until they've exhausted the rest of the chorus.]

Yaknow, I bet we could start up a band if we really wanted! Maybe one more member to round out the group and we'd be good!

[He's probably kidding, but who knows honestly.]

I dunno, J.T., could you handle being in an honest-to-god nineties throwback boy band and maintain your lucrative career in the circus? You gotta consider the time management, man. There's logistics.

I could totally try! And if that didn't work, we could always make the band a part of the Circus! Maybe like a side-act!

[Wirh a lot more jugglers and knife swallowers. That would make for a memorable concert for sure.]

Are you surprised? You've heard me sing, Jimmy, you ought to know by now how musical I am.

Well yeah, but it takes somebody with real talent to whistle like that!

[Everybody can whistle, but he didn't say everybody could whistle well.]

Talent's only part of it. Practice is what makes me as good as I am.

[And she proceeds to demonstrate once again by whistling out a quick, eerie melody based on an old song about a banshee.]

Wait, uh, are we discussing this in some manner of actual seriousness or just riffing on this shit for jokes? Because, like, I may be an orphan, but I'm not exactly ready to run away from home to join the circus just to jump-start my up-and-coming showbiz career.

[...not because of Jimmy, but because of Al. Bless him, he tries to whistle along, but all that comes out is that pathetic little 'huuuuuu' breath of failure. After a few tires, he shrugs and laughs.]

Practice, huh...? No matter how much I practice, I just can't get it at all!

[Jimmy sighs, reaching a hand up to briefly feel where the gap in his teeth still is, and likely will continue to be forever.]

Naah, I'm just kiddin'! But there's nothing saying you can't do that if you really wanted to.
