[After traveling for several days to get to Vermillion City, Jimmy hasn't really had a chance to check the Network or his PC much. But upon arriving to town early in the morning, the first thing he'd gone to do was check his PC to switch out some of his team and...

Well. There's only one reason you find a friend's Pokemon in your possession, isn't there? A quick attempt at a call confirms his worst fears. He left to go on a trip, promising he'd be back soon. He didn't even get to say goodbye.

It takes him a little while, but he eventually makes a video from a seat on the couch inside the Pokemon Center (since he hasn't actually left yet). There's a pokeball in his hands, but he hasn't had the heart to release what's inside yet.

For the first time in a long time, Jimmy Two-Shoes looks...genuinely upset.]

Molly's gone home.

[His grip on the ball shifts a little. When he looks back up he forces a smile, strained and maybe a little too wide.]

If you got any of her Pokemon, lemme know, okay? I'm not gonna take 'em, I just...wanna make sure they're alright.

Thanks.

Otherwise you'd worry, right? I'll look around Fuchsia, and maybe on the sourrounding routes if I can. Do they have any special traits that would make identifying them easier?

She...she had an Unfezant that was really stubborn. And a Ponyta that likes to eat sweets. Her starter was a Natu, always real attached to her and stuff...I'm the most worried about her, but I dunno if she'd want to really be with anyone else other than Molly.

Good thing there aren't many wild Natus around here; she'll be easy to recognize. Should I tell her you're worried? Would it help?

If you find her, yeah....but if she'd rather stay out in the wild, that's fine too.

Even if that is her preference, I'm sure she'll be happy to hear it. Did you spend a lot of time with her trainer?

[He nods a little, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck.]

Yeah...she was a real good friend of mine. I met her when she first showed up, so...

The friends we meet are this world's greatest gift... I'm sure that, wherever they are, all her Pokémon remember you fondly.

[Jimmy smiles a little at that, but it's still strained. He's never the one to not be optimistic, but...]

Kinda...sucks that she won't remember, though.

...She might, if she returns. It's not a certainty, but some people do.

Yeah...only if she comes back though. She had so much fun here...and then forgetting all of that...it's not really fair.

Maybe whatever removes our memories thinks it's being nice by making us forget that we'll never see most of the people we meet here again? Even if that's no kindness at all.

Yeah...you're prolly right. It'd keep them from being sad about going home, at least...but it gets rid of a whole lotta good memories, too.

Even the less pleasant memories are important. They shape us, help us grow and learn more about ourselves in the world.

Right. We wouldn't be who we are if we didn't have those kinds of memories.

[It means whatever growth Molly had here...that's gone.]

I just hope that she will remember, if she ever does come back.

It'd be nice. I doubt whether or not people remember is based on others' wishes, but I'm sure it can't hurt.
