[After traveling for several days to get to Vermillion City, Jimmy hasn't really had a chance to check the Network or his PC much. But upon arriving to town early in the morning, the first thing he'd gone to do was check his PC to switch out some of his team and...

Well. There's only one reason you find a friend's Pokemon in your possession, isn't there? A quick attempt at a call confirms his worst fears. He left to go on a trip, promising he'd be back soon. He didn't even get to say goodbye.

It takes him a little while, but he eventually makes a video from a seat on the couch inside the Pokemon Center (since he hasn't actually left yet). There's a pokeball in his hands, but he hasn't had the heart to release what's inside yet.

For the first time in a long time, Jimmy Two-Shoes looks...genuinely upset.]

Molly's gone home.

[His grip on the ball shifts a little. When he looks back up he forces a smile, strained and maybe a little too wide.]

If you got any of her Pokemon, lemme know, okay? I'm not gonna take 'em, I just...wanna make sure they're alright.

Thanks.

[And that's it.]

[Now that...that has Jimmy pausing for a little bit before he answers.]

I don't know, exactly. But...from what she told me, I don't think things are very safe for her right now. She seemed to be worried about people back home.

[Her powers...she told him she could see people back home and make sure they were safe. She always hated how she couldn't do that here in Johto. And then she talked often about how there are "bad guys" in the world...]

I dunno for sure, but I'm worried about it.

Your intuitions are probably good ones. If that's the impression you came away with, it's possible there were subconscious factors lending themselves to that conclusion, above and beyond verbalized ones.

...But there's no helping it at this point, is there?

Not really. 'Specially if she isn't going to be remembering anything from her time here. I really hope she'll be okay...she's a lot stronger than she thinks she is. Least I think so.

If she's in any sort of danger, I just hope she's got friends back home that can help keep her safe from it.

[That's the worst part about this, really. Knowing that he's still here, unable to do anything if she was in trouble.]

Exactly. There's not much anyone here can do about it, save for...hoping for the best. Which sounds naive and cliched, at best.

But sometimes hope proves to be enough. So maybe something like that really isn't as trite as it sounds on the surface.

[Jimmy laughs a little, softly. It's still a bit strained, but...well, it's something.]

I try to look on the bright side, no matter what happens. I mean, it's not like Molly's the first friend of mine to go home. I guess just...knowing that things might not be okay have me more worried than I'd be normally.

But I think you're right. Hoping for the best is better than nothing, isn't it?

That's what someone I know would say. It's...something I've tried to embrace, myself, ever since he proved why it's a worthwhile philosophy to believe in.

Mhmm. Having hope is better than letting the things you're worried about take control of you. ...I just need to take my own advice. And...I don't think Molly would want me to be too worried about her.

She promised me once that if I ever left and forgot about this place, she'd help me remember if I came back and couldn't. So...I'll just have to keep the same promise.
